Event #2: US/China Cultural Exchange Recital
          Pianists, ages 6-17, are invited to submit an application to perform at the Ivy International Cultural Exchange Recital.

         Thursday, August 9th at 7:00pm
         Location: Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250)
                                     • THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - NO TICKETS REQUIRED •

Location Information:

     The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, is located off of Rt 166 (exit 47B from I-95)  When entering campus from Rt 166, turn left on to Hilltop Circle, and then turn right to park in lot 8.  Lot 8 parking is free after 4pm.

Requirements:
          1. Event is open to U.S. pianists between the ages of 7 and 17.
          2. Applicant must be prepared to perform a work (late beginner to early advanced) for memory.  
          3. In order to be considered, applicants must complete the application below and submit a teacher recommendation.
          4. Application fee: None
          
5. Application deadline: August 4, 2017 (application deadline will be sooner if event fills before deadline)

Benefits:
          1. Performers receive points redeemable for Knabe Institute awards.
          2. Performers receive a Knabe Institute Certificate of Participation.
          3. Performers will have the opportunity to interact and share with Chinese piano students visiting the United States.

Event #3:  Summer Festival International Piano Competition
          Early Intermediate to Early Advanced pianists, ages 6-17, are invited to compete

​         Saturday, August 11th, beginning at 11:00AM

         Final Performance and Awards Ceremony: 3:00PM
         Location: Leah Smith Hall at the University of Maryland, College Park, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Requirements:
          1. Event is open to U.S. pianists between the ages of 6 and 17.
          2. One or two works, early intermediate to early advanced, may be performed.  Repertoire is otherwise open. 
          3. In order to be considered, applicants must complete the application below and submit a teacher recommendation.
          4. $15 application fee
          5. Application deadline: August 4, 2017 (application deadline will be sooner if event fills before deadline)

​Awards:
          1. Performers receive points redeemable for Knabe Institute awards.
          2. Performers receive a Knabe Institute Certificate of Participation.
          3. Winners will have their names and biographies posted on the Knabe Institute website.
          4. Performers will receive comments from the judges
          5. Prizes include:
                Division 1 (ages 6-9): $40 first prize, $25 second prize, $15 third prize (and commemorative medals)
                Division 2 (ages 10-12): $40 first prize, $25 second prize, $15 third prize (and commemorative medals)
​                Division 3 (ages 13-17): $75 first prize, $40 second prize, and $20 third prize (and commemorative medals)

 Competitors will receive a performance time by email. The final round recital and awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at 3:00pm.
